Pests

Pests are the invaders that appear on the screen in consecutive waves and try to destroy your structures.

Wave types

Designer defined (predefined) or random:

Pests arrive in groups that are either determined in the level design, or are randomly generated at a size that varies with the size of the player's garden. Thus, while levels are created with predefined waves, the random timer can be set so that if there is a certain time gap in between developer-defined waves, a random wave of bugs will appear.

For example, if the designer creates a level with waves of bugs appearing every minute, the random wave timer can be set to 10 or 20 or so seconds so that more waves of bugs spawn in between these set waves. The designer can specify which of nine sectors on the map that the bugs can randomly appear, and more than one sector can be selected. He can also say which of the 4 kinds of pests may be in these random waves. As was mentioned, the size of the random wave is then determined on by the player's garden size. A large garden spawns a larger wave.

Pest types

  • rat

Rats: Rats have undergone a total transformation from heavy battering beasts to nimble little mice with moderate attack and health. They now serve more as basic infantry.

    • Speed: High
    • Health: Mid
    • Attack: Mid
  • roach

Roaches: These guys, in response to the transformation of rats, have become the new "tanks", though their attack power is only moderate. They are slow moving and have high HP.

    • Speed: Low
    • Health: High
    • Attack: Mid
  • termite

Termites: Termites now have a high attack power compared to other bugs. They also have an advantage against wooden walls, so that they still serve as a reason for the player to solidify walls with stone. They are aggressive.

    • Speed: Mid
    • Health: Mid
    • Attack: High
  • spider

Spitting Spiders: The ranged units of the pests. They spit venom at targets rather than move next to it and begin attacking. THus they are effective when the player uses a large number of bug sprays or other close defenses. However, the range of scarecrows and magnifying glasses especially will take care of these guys. They have low attack and speed to help compensate for their range.

    • Speed: Low
    • Health: Mid
    • Attack: Low

AI Types:
